Paul’s Words

This is one of the scariest bible verses I know.

Brethren, join in following my example and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us. (Philippians 3:17, NASB)

And Paul has the nerve to say it again!

So I urge and implore you, be imitators of me. (1 Corinthians 4:16, AMP)

Is he kidding? Who among us thinks we are good enough to be an example to anyone? I am sure that my actions and words have led many a person astray. Under my own steam, I am hopeless.

Whether we like it or not, our life is our message.

Only by keeping our eyes on Christ and following his example will we ever be any use to anyone. Paul learned that lesson and so must we.

When we profess to be Christians, our families, co-workers and yes, even total strangers expect to see Christ in us. Unfortunately, our actions speak louder than words. What are ours saying today?

Prayer-Lord, help us live our lives in a way that moves others closer to you. Amen.
