Permission to Diddle

I’m on the road this week with some speaking engagements and just for once, decided to avoid the major highways and leisurely drive myself through the countryside. It will take a few minutes longer but the peace and quiet and lack of crazy rushing really appeals to me today. I’ll sup at a quiet inn, linger in a few shops and generally enjoy myself.

“Go for it,” said my daughter. “You have my permission to diddle on your journey.”

I thought I’d better look that up! Diddle means to pass time aimlessly or unproductively.

As a type A personality and confessed workaholic, I find it hard to do this, but since God encourages his sheep to enjoy green pastures, I’m taking advantage of the day.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake (Psalm 23:2-3, KJV)

I’m looking forward to the part where my soul gets restored… You?

Prayer- Lord, thank you for rest and relaxation and renewal. Amen.
