Persistence

Philippians 3:13b, 14a But one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on. (AMP)

Some days, my brain would be as dry as a fig, with not a thought to put on paper. Then I’d begin to think, “Impossible! What ever made me think I could do this?”

Then God would bring to my mind the day that he spoke to me about writing my book,

“Heartfelt, 366 Devotions for Common Sense Living.”

Once more I would rise early, before the temptations of the day called. I would fire up the computer, pray for God’s help, read the Calvin Coolidge quote in the framed poster beside my desk and begin again.

Persistence

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race”

“I press on,” says Paul.  Will we?

Prayer: Lord God, we aren’t particularly talented. Most of us aren’t geniuses. Our education is never enough in today’s world. But Lord, we can persist by choosing to obey you. In Jesus’ name. Amen
