Picnic Safety

Having a big family picnic this week? Here are some safety thoughts for you.

Your picnic utensils sat all year in the garage. They need a thorough cleaning before any food goes in them. Cool them thoroughly too. Don’t put food into a hot container!

Plan on having at least 25 percent of the contents to be ice or ice packs. Food must be kept cool to be safe. Try freezing bottled water and using it as an ice pack. When it thaws you can drink the water!

All of these make sense, don’t they? We don’t mean to give anyone food poisoning, but one careless slip and your guests are in line for the bathroom.

Unfortunately, we poison people in so many other ways.

We do this…

But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. (James 3:8-10)

… instead of this

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)
