Remember that old hymn…” There is Power in the blood? Power in the blood? It was written in 1899 by Lewis Edgar Jones. The song promises freedom from sin, victory over passion and pride and service in Christ.

Forget Superman, Batman and a few dozen others. The real power is in having Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. He’s the real power and that power is available to all who love and serve him.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and the earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and Yours it is to be exalted as Head over all. (From 1 Chronicles 29:11)

Then He touched their eyes, saying, according to your faith, trust and reliance on the power invested in Me, be it done to you; (From Matthew 9:29)

And He did not do many works of power there, because of their unbelief (their lack of faith in the divine mission of Jesus). (From Matthew 13:58)

We can do what we need to do because God gives us strength and courage.

This is where we fail.

Jesus said to them, is not this where you wander out of the way and go wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?  (Mark 12:24)

Here is where we need to go for that power in our own lives.

But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name— (John 1:12, AMPC)

Prayer- Lord we pray that your power be evident in our lives as we stand for you. Amen.
