Praying Biblical Prayers for Our Children: Ephesians 6:10-20

This week we’ve been learning how to pray biblical prayers for our children.

First, we prayed Ephesians 1:15-23 for our children.

Then we prayed Ephesians 3:14-23 for our children.

Today we pray Ephesians 6:10-20 for our children. This passage is slightly different from the first two in that it was not originally a prayer. However, it lends itself to a powerful prayer for our children to put on the full armor of God. As with the previous prayers, I word these with the names of our adult children, Josh and Marie. You would, of course, insert the names of your child(ren).

10Finally, may Josh and Marie be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

11May Josh and Marie put on the full armor of God so that they can take their stand against the devil’s schemes.

12For Josh and Marie’s struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

13Therefore may Josh and Marie put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, they may be able to stand their ground, and after Josh and Marie have done everything, to stand.

14Stand firm then, Josh and Marie, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16In addition to all this, may Josh and Marie, take up the shield of faith, with which they can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17May Josh and Marie take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18And may Josh and Marie pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, may Josh and Marie be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

19I pray also for Josh and Marie, that whenever they open their mouth, words may be given them so that Josh and Marie will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

20for which Josh and Marie are ambassadors in chains. I pray that Josh and Marie may declare it fearlessly, as they should.
