Press On

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.

Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.

Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

I’ve had this quote in poster form on my office wall as long as I can remember. It’s generally attributed to Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president of the United States (1872 – 1933).

While I found it to be both comforting and encouraging, I saw myself alone, struggling through life issues but refusing to give up.

2 Corinthians 4:8-We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair (NIV).

Then I read this verse

May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. –2 Thessalonians 3:5-(NIV)

Christ persevered?  And I take heart and keep moving toward victory, persevering, no matter how long it takes.

Philippians 3:12-Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me (NIV).

Philippians 3:14- I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (NIV).

Prayer: Lord, give us the perseverance of Christ as we move toward your goals for us. For His sake. Amen.
