Pressing Business

It always amazes me when people ask questions way too early. For instance, a person joins our weight loss group and needs to lose fifty pounds. They don’t ask about the food plan. No. The first question is what is my goal weight!

Someone wants to know about writing and the first question they ask is this. How can I get published?  I want to scream this. “You haven’t even written a word yet. Write something and then we will talk.”

What kind of questions do you ask God?

God why did you…?

God why don’t you…?

God how come…?

God, when will you…?

And friends you haven’t even asked him into your heart as Lord and Savour yet. First things must come first, friends; first things first.

When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had wanted to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort. He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer. (Luke 23:8-9, NIV)

Prayer-Father God, hear us as we ask this question Lord. Why did Jesus die for our sins? And hear us as we tell you your answer.  For you, God so loved the world that you gave us your one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NIV). Thank You God. Amen!
