Why are we so old? Believe it or not, God has a purpose for us.
1) God is giving us time to get our life straight and right with him.
Don’t turn me out to pasture when I’m old or put me on the shelf when I can’t pull my weight. (Psalm 71:9, MSG)
“Good people will prosper like palm trees, Grow tall like Lebanon cedars; transplanted to God’s courtyard, they’ll grow tall in the presence of God, lithe and green, virile still in old age.” (Psalm 92:12-14, MSG)
2) God is giving us time to share the message of Jesus with everyone we know.
Listen, dear friends, to God’s truth, bend your ears to what I tell you. I’m chewing on the morsel of a proverb; I’ll let you in on the sweet old truths, Stories we heard from our fathers, counsel we learned at our mother’s knee. We’re not keeping this to ourselves, we’re passing it along to the next generation— God’s fame and fortune, the marvelous things he has done. (Psalm 78:1-4, MSG)
