Do you ever feel that the people in your world don’t give you your due? You know what I mean. They don’t get excited when you achieve a goal, or make a fuss when you get a new speaking gig, or graduate with some degree or other?
Jesus knew all about that. In Mark 6, He explained what happened to him and also gave us guidelines on what to expect for ourselves. At first everybody is wowed by your efforts. Then they start to question how you got so good. Finally they decide that it must be a fluke. After all, didn’t you grow up just down the street?
From whence hath this man these things? And what wisdom is this given to him? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary…? And they were offended at him.(From Mark 6)
Jesus said don’t expect much from your own country, your own kin or your own house. (From Mark 6:4)
This is the problem for the unbelievers. Because of their unbelief, (some Bible versions say their stubbornness!) Jesus couldn’t do many miracles there. He, The Lord Jesus Christ was hampered by their unbelief.
So friend, what is it that you believe about the Christ? Is he hampered in your life because you don’t believe that he is the Christ, the Son of God? I suggest that it is time for a reality check.
Prayer- Lord, forgive us for not believing who you are. Show us your truth today and give us grace to believe in you as our Lord and Savior. Amen.
