After their last Passover together, Jesus headed for one of his favourite places, the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.
He gives them clear directions, TWICE!
…he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” (Luke 22:40, NIV)
“Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” (Luke 22:46, NIV)
You see, Jesus had already prayed for them; (32-33) now he is saying, it is your turn to pray. My prayers sustained. You know my will. I told you what you needed. I prayed for that need…now you need to agree with me in that prayer.
What are the directions God gave to us? Are we listening or hibernating, cocooning in our houses and using that as a way to disobey? How many moments like this are meant to speak to us, and we miss them?
Prayer- Father, open our hearts to listening and obeying in Christ. Amen
