Galatians 6:9:And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up. (LB)
It was hard to say no when our children wanted candy instead of vegetables and dates instead of homework. It was annoying to be wakened by their ‘reporting’phone calls when they were out. It would have been easier to be the “current friend’s” mom. “She fed her children nothing but cookies and soda pop. “She” permitted dates on weeknights. Why, “she” didn’t even care if her children stayed out till three am! Lots of times, we were not popular with our children.
Many years have passed and Ron and I are finally reaping the rewards of persevering in our children’s lives. Yes, children have minds of their own and they may turn away from a parent’s teaching, but that should not discourage us. After all, God promises that we will reap a harvest of blessing if we just don’t give up.
Prayer: Lord, you are present in every hard area of our life. You know what it costs us to walk in your way. Thank you for your promise, a harvest of blessing, if we just don’t give up! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
