Redacted Prayer

There was a day when I wrote things like this.

Are you a smoker? Trying to lose weight? Addicted to sugar? Overcome with gossiping?
Funny, they all involve our mouth; well now.

Pray that God guards your mouth from whatever goes in or out of it. Pray specifically.

Pray that cigarettes and cigarette smoke become repulsive to you. Ask God to change your taste buds. Pray that second helpings be offensive to you or upset your stomach.

Those prayers seem so shallow to me now. There are many other sinful habits less visible and far more hurtful than those.

God is patient and forgiving, even when we pray unkind judgmental things. I hope he redacts them and waits for our minds and mouths to be kinder, smarter and more common sense like.

Set a guard, O Lord, before my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips. (Psalm 141:3, AMP)

Prayer- Lord, set a guard on my lips, Lord. Please let the actions of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be less shallow and more forgiving and acceptable to you. Amen (from Psalm 19:14)
