Refunded

Your taxes are all done. The refund is in the mail and you are spending those dollars now; right? Oh, no refund for you? That’s too bad. Better luck next year.

Did you know there was a time when we didn’t pay income tax? Yes, that’s right. Then a war or two came along and those in power needed money to fund it and guess what? We had pockets that needed to be emptied; and they were.

Just as we always suspected, war never benefited anyone. On the other hand, taxes sometimes do.
The Bible speaks about taxes too.

This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. (Romans 13:6-7, NIV)

Just as we already knew, we are supposed to pay our debts. Some are too deep to ever pay off.

Just a reminder that when we need money for something; we manage to find it. What about our church? They need money and they have enough but unfortunately, it is all in our pockets.

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13:8, NIV)

Prayer- Lord God, we thank you that you loved us enough to send Jesus to die for our sins. Help us to return that love by loving others like you do. Amen.
