Remembering

During the Second World War, Reverend T. Richard Davies gathered bits of broken church window glass from bombed out churches in Europe. The bits and pieces came home to Canada with him.

Someone took all those bits and pieces and formed them into a beautiful stained glass window which now graces Highlands United Church in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Several terrible wars left many of us scarred and broken, but this window stands for the good that can come from evil.

When your life seems to be in shreds, with sharp edges and hurtful, cutting events, do remember that God takes all those nasty bits and somehow puts them together in a beautiful way?
We are more than our broken bits. We will become whole again under his tender care.

God’s Spirit is on me; he’s chosen me to preach the Message of Good News to the poor, sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the burdened and battered free. (Luke 4:18a, MSG)

Prayer – Lord, help us hang on while you take our broken bits to wholeness in Christ. Amen
