Resolution Boredom

Aren’t you tired of making the same old resolutions; the ones about smoking, overeating, not spending so much? The kind of resolutions that disappear; that you forget 20 minutes into the New Year?

Yes, me too. So this year I’ve devised a new plan. I’m going to make monthly resolutions based on the letters of the month. I want them to have deeper overall meaning and the possibility of real change in my life. Please join me.

J – May Jesus be first in everything I say and do.
A – For all the coming year.
N – Now, not just after I’ve made mistakes but now, right now.
UUntil the end of this year, and the next and to the end of forever.
A – Jesus taking my anxious, anxiety based feelings and fears
R – and helping me make real, permanent peace in my life.
YYou (and me too; both of us; all of us.)

So for January and yes, all the coming year, I want Jesus to be first in my life, right now.

My resolution is Jesus first until the end of forever, guiding my anxious feelings into real, permanent peace that only he can give to you and me and all of us. Are you with me? You see if we do our resolutions this way, Jesus will help us fix the other things. It’s a win-win situation.

You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. (John 14:14, NIV)

“Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:5-7, NIV)

Prayer – Lord Jesus we choose you first this year, for you are above and beyond anything else we can ask or think. In your name we pray. Amen
