Resolution Dilution

Do you even remember what your resolutions were this year? They are done aren’t they?

They never last long because we make them with wild abandon, not allowing for the time, difficulty and stress of carrying them out.

Let’s make a new one today…Let’s resolve to march resolutely forward in the joy and obedience of Christ. Now that is a resolution we can get behind, or in front of, or all together on, isn’t it?

Repeat these basic essentials over and over to God’s people. Warn them before God against pious nitpicking, which chips away at the faith. It just wears everyone out. Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won’t be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple. Stay clear of pious talk that is only talk.

Words are not mere words, you know. If they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul. (2 Timothy 2:14-17, MSG)

Prayer- Lord God, merciful father, forgive us for our loose use of words and broken promises. Instead, give us the strength to follow our Christian faith with full obedience and joy. Amen.
