Whining is not becoming to anyone, especially those of us who proclaim Christ as our Saviour.
The riffraff among the people had a craving and soon they had the People of Israel whining, “Why can’t we have meat? We ate fish in Egypt—and got it free!—to say nothing of the cucumbers and melons, the leeks and onions and garlic. But nothing tastes good out here; all we get is manna, manna, manna.” (Numbers 11:4-6, MSG).
Riffraff is an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody’s social status, importance, and manners. It means that whiners are disreputable or undesirable people.
God is calling the whiners riffraff! Riffraff! Seriously? Yes dear ones, when we whine we are the lowest of the low. Our importance is diminished and our manners are terrible.
The opposite of riffraff is gentry, aristocracy, those with peerage. That makes sense to me. Whiners live on the lowest level. God lovers are a cut above others, not in status but by the way we live.
