Rock On

Samson loved to torment the Philistines, and they did everything they could to do the same to him. In Judges 15, Samson’s father-in-law refused him entrance to his wife’s bedroom, even though Samson brought a gift goat! So he caught 300 foxes, tied their tails together, and added lit torches. Of course, the Philistines did awful things in return. It’s quite a read.

Anyway, at the end of it all, Samson was thirsty. Any wonder? He calls on God—finally!

Now he was suddenly very thirsty. He called out to God, “You have given your servant this great victory. Are you going to abandon me to die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?” So God split open the rock basin in Lehi; water gushed out and Samson drank. His spirit revived—he was alive again! (Judges 15:18-19a, MSG)

How much do we go through on our own before finally crying out for help from our Rock, The Christ?

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. (1 Corinthians 10:4, KJV)

Prayer – Father give us enough sense to know that we should be crying out to Christ through all things. Amen
