Seeing Potential

In her world, belt buckles become picture frames.

Buttons are furniture feet.

A small metal cap from a soft drink becomes the perfect pie pan.

A string snipped into bits becomes a bowl of spaghetti.

A match box becomes a double bed.

Styrofoam broken in bits looks like popcorn.

A small wrist watch becomes a wall clock.

That is how a worker in miniatures sees the world, full of potential even in the things we would ordinarily throw away.  The world sees us as not worth it but Jesus sees us for what we can become with his help.

For an answer Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room, and said, “I’m telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you’re not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in. Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God’s kingdom. What’s more, when you receive the childlike on my account, it’s the same as receiving me. (Matthew 18:2-5)

Prayer- Lord thank you for seeing beyond what we are to what we can become. Amen.
