Shelf Talk

It is said that the meaning of the threshing floor in the Bible is tribula. It includes both the sledge itself which is full of spikes and also refers to the harrow, an agricultural instrument used to break up clods of dirt in the fields. One way or another unwanted stuff is broken out so that the crops might be improved.

Tribulation means hardship, suffering, pain or problems. It is something that causes us great difficulty, affliction or distress.

We have all experienced tribulation of one kind or another. We suffer through it, and our attitude in it will determine what we are like when it is all over.

No one likes tribulation but tribulation breaks up the big clods of dirt in us and makes a crop plant possible. Tribulation separates our chaff from our wheat so that it is usable.

Therefore I say let us rejoice in suffering for out of that suffering comes a crop worthy of the Lord.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33, KJV)

Prayer- Amen, Lord, we shout amen and praise your name while you sustain us through our hard times. Amen.
