Short Humans

Some ancient Greek penned these words. “Children are short humans who don’t like vegetables.” According to this definition, some adults are also quite short.

The apostle Paul speaks of adults who are also short in a spiritual sense.

Hebrews 5:12- By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby's milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God's ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong (MSG).

Let’s examine this together.

  1. After some time as a Christian, we ought to be teaching others, at least by example.
  2. If we still don’t get the basics on God, we need a babysitter.
  3. We are inexperienced in God’s ways and therefore immature.
  4. We are immature because we don’t choose right over wrong.

So now, let’s examine our own hearts and lives. Where have we been choosing the wrong way? Isn’t time we stood up, and grew up, instead of spitting out veggies and whining for a baby bottle? Isn’t time we got over ourselves and looked instead for ways to teach others about God?

Prayer: Lord, forgive us.Help us not miss out on an opportunity, just because we are too full of ourselves. Amen.
