I recently heard a poem that is supposed to help you decipher whether a snake is poisonous.
Red and black! A friend of Jack.
Red and yellow can kill a fellow.
Ask me if this comforts me? ABSOLUTELY NOT. When I see a snake I am long gone. I do not wait to see which colour is where. I count all snakes as my enemies.
Nor do I see this as a failing on my part. After all, God said:
I will put enmity between you and the woman. (Genesis 3:15a, NIV)
Yes, I know he meant it on a deeper level but when I see a snake that meaning is clear enough for me. Get away, get away, and get away!
That snake Satan comes slithering into our lives the same way. Do not wait to see if his stripes are a good color. They never are. Beat it off in the farthest direction you can. Don’t waste a minute checking for any stripes. The only stripes, you need to be worried about are these.
But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5, KJV)
Prayer- Father God, help us recognize the enemy when we see him coming and give wings to our feet as we run in the opposite direction. Thanks you. Amen.
