Spare Parts

One set of twins I know jokingly describe each other as ‘their spare parts’ department. Modern medicine has made this all possible. You need a kidney, I need a liver, and we are often mutually exchangeable.

We (well not me…but others) even rebuild and replace external body parts like eyes, limbs, and skin. We live in a truly medically marvelous age.

But no one can replace our spirit but God.

“I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t handle them now. But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won’t draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. He will honor me; he will take from me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is also mine. That is why I’ve said, ‘He takes from me and delivers to you.’ (John 16:13-15, MSG)

I pray you get all the spare parts you need when you need them, but don’t forget to ask for this one, the one, and only Holy Spirit, God’s gift to us when we believe.

Prayer- Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit and all that he does in our life. Amen.
