Splendiferous Living

I bet you think that only Mary Poppins uses a word like splendiferous. Maybe you don’t even know that it is a real word! There are several definitions. One is a late Middle English word, meaning “brightness bearer.”  Another definition is magnificent and wonderful.

Then I thought of Psalm 139:14.

Psalm 139:14-I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well (KJV).

So maybe we could translate this verse this way…

I will praise thee; for I am spendiferously, magnificently and wonderfully made……

That means you and that means me. Our fat thighs, stutters, crow’s feet and shortness don’t matter. Our thin hair, club feet, big noses, over tallness and acne skin don’t matter. NONE of that stuff matters because The Living God made you and he made me and he never makes junk.

Philippians 2:12b offers some suggestions on how we can return the favor..

Philippians 2:12work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ) (AMP).

Thomas Edison said that many people failed, giving up because they just didn’t realize how close they were to success. But I ask you how can someone called Brightness Bearer and described as spendiferously, magnificently and wonderfully made……ever stop trying to be their best for Christ? You are doing a great job! See you at the finish line!

Prayer: Oh, Dear wonderful and Creative God, thank you for thinking that we were worth creating and we also thank you for loving what you created. Us!! For Christ’s Sake. Amen.
