Standing on the Promises of God

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  No, in all these things, we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through him we loved us.–Romans 8:35, 37

We have an enemy who loves to whispers little lies to us.  The problem is that too many Christians are believing these lies and are living in defeat.  We don't fully understand or recognize who we are in Christ.

In Christ, we are a new creation.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” — 2 Corinithins 5:17

We need to remember that we are not the person we used to be.  The old has gone.  Jesus no longer remembers who you used to be; He just sees you as His child.  So when satan tries to bring up your past, just remind him that it's forgotten.

In Christ, we are free from condemnation

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”–Romans 8:1

Jesus does not condemn us, so why do we allow Satan to do so?

In Christ, we are children of God

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” –1 John 3:1

We are not slaves or enemies of God.  He has called us His children.  We are children of the King!

In Christ, we always triumph

“In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade.” –2 Corinthians 2:14  (The Message)

The enemy wants to make us think that we are defeated, but the Word says that we are victorious.  We are on the winning side.

In Christ, we are righteous, holy and redeemed.

“It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – this is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.”  –1 Corinthians 1:30

When God looks at us, He sees us through the blood of Jesus.  We are righteous, because He is righteous.

In Christ, we have purpose

“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do:  forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 3:13-14

God created us for a purpose, and He has a plan for our lives.  We are not wandering around aimlessly.  We are not alone.

In Christ, we have eternal hope

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God … And so we will be with the Lord forever.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Our hope is in the Lord and He will not disappoint.  We have a future we can look forward to.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then these promises are for YOU!!  They are not just for other Christians, they are for YOU!!!

Don't let Satan keep you living in defeat.  Instead, live standing on the promises of God.
