It may be caused by anything from whiplash, funny sleeping patterns or even poor posture. A stiff neck is no joke because it sometimes is a serious physical problem or even worse, a spiritual one.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions. (Psalm 51:1, AMP)
Or will we insist on having our own way like these folks who refused to listen?
You stubborn and stiff-necked people, still heathen and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you are always actively resisting the Holy Spirit. As your forefathers [were], so you [are and so you do]! (Acts 51:1, AMP)
Prayer-Lord, we bow our heads, necks and hearts before you, Amen.
