I’ve been sharing some writing/publishing advice with a friend and she thanked me in these words.
“Thank you Brenda. You are my guide through these waters.”
This is my reply. “Let’s be careful not to get in over our heads. Can you swim?
The New Testament only mentions swimming heads; (Mark 16:8, MSG), swimming with a millstone; (Luke 17:1-2, MSG) and killing prisoners who might escape by swimming. (Acts 27:42-4, MSG)
However, Jesus did like deep water. That’s where all the good fishing is.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”(Luke 5:4, NIV)
Do we keep swimming in the same shallow pond, with the same old friends who already know Jesus as their personal Saviour?
Let’s follow Peter into the deeper water, get in over our heads and trust God to help us with the swimming and the fishing. We can dog paddle for a bit till we get the hang of the front crawl.
Prayer- When Jesus calls, Lord, we choose to answer. Amen.
