Taking Flight

I read about a gal who every year, prays for a word to live by. I thought this might be a fearsome thing. I mean what if the word was scary or troubling? Then I remembered my motto. Do it afraid. So I prayed and asked God for a word. ‘Flight’ popped into my mind. What kind of word is that?

I jotted down everything I could think of about that word. Fight or flight. (I don’t want to fight and I don’t want to run, especially since Ron died.) Sure that it wasn’t a Biblical word. I checked my concordance and oops….I was wrong. There it was in bold print.

Leviticus 26:8-Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall before you by the sword (AMP).

Isaiah 52:12-For you will not go out with haste, nor will you go in flight [as was necessary when Israel left Egypt]; for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard AMP),

I took ‘flight’ as a promise from God that I need not be afraid in my new state of widowhood. Enemies fall before me because God has my back. God gave me other thoughts too personal to share, but if you ask the Lord, you’ll have your own. He has lots of them. After all, he is the Word.

John 1:1-IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself (AMP).

Prayer: Giver of the Word, give us one today and help us live by it. In Christ's Name. Amen.
