Tomorrow is tax day in my house. yes, my accountant is coming to save me from having to wallow in my own papers and files. Aren’t we grateful for the folks who know how to do stuff?
Facebook carried a funny quote today. It went something like this.
‘My cleaning lady phoned to say that she was working from home today, but that she would send instructions on how to do the job myself!’
Well speaking for me, if I wanted to do the job myself I would never have hired a cleaning lady!
But here we are in our homes around the world, looking at dusty furniture and unwashed dishes, and all the cleaning supplies we have on hand for the cleaning lady!
It is pretty clear that we must start our own cleanup, in house and in life.
Yes and in heart too. Here are some verses you can dwell on while you clean here and there and everywhere!
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin, for I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. (From Psalm 51, NIV)
Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”? (Proverbs 20:9, NIV)
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:22, NIV)
Prayer- Loving God, we lean on you for our cleanliness, for you are the only one who can make us really clean. Amen.
