Acts 4 tells how the congregation of believers were of one heart, and one mind! It was share and share alike. No one did without.
Ananias and his wife, Sapphira wanted to look like big shots. They wanted to donate the sale money of a piece of land, but not too much of it. They lied about the price, but carried on as though they donated all the money.
Then Peter said to her, “Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well.”
(From Acts 5:9)
It wasn’t the money that got them killed. It was the lying about the amount.
Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.
(From 1 Corinthians 3:12-15)
We can choose to be a big shot in they eye of the world or a big shot with God and under his protection.
