When a Christian goes into the world to share what was once called “The Way,” they are invincible. Not in a cocky or arrogant way no, but in the sense that they are imbued with the very power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. No principalities, no spiritual wicked spirits or forces can block the message of The Way that God in His sovereignty has willed to receive it.
The old movie and the remake of The Untouchables reminds me that when our church is going out into the streets, the malls, and into the world, the Word of God has power and will never return void or without effect. God has provided His witnesses protection with powerful spirit beings; angels dispatched to minister and protect us. The Bible speaks of angels as being assigned to each and every believer. There are at a minimum of one, but there are some scriptural indications that it is a plurality of angels, meaning that each of us may have more than one angel given charge over us.
The very power that we have is not in ourselves, and humanly speaking, we are not invincible, but the power is in the Word of God, and in the Holy Spirit (Acts1:8). It is nothing less than God’s power. This does not mean that we will not be persecuted, scorned, ridiculed, or rejected but it does mean that not one hair on our heads will be harmed since we have already had eternal life imparted to us. We need not fear what man can do. We are commanded to go into all the world to preach the Gospel but it is not in our own power that we do so. It is God power.
