Three Paths

By 11 p.m., the two-year-old instigator still wouldn’t go to sleep and his noise woke both the four- and six-year-old. After a stiff word from their Amma, the oldest lay down and immediately dozed off. The four-year-old lay down and pretended to snore but did not sleep. However, the two-year-old had designs on the play room, no matter what Amma said.

Amma stood quietly in the dark hall, catching and returning, catching and returning the squirming little body. He almost made it the fifth time because instead of standing, he crawled toward his destination. I didn’t catch him till he ran into my knees!

We respond to God in the same ways.

  1. God speaks and we instantly obey
  2. We pretend to obey but it is all noise.
  3. We actively disobey.

No matter. It will take longer but eventually we’ll run into God. Correction is eminent.

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai, saying,  Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim against it, for their wickedness has come up before Me. But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from being in the presence of the Lord [as His prophet] (Jonah 1:1-3b, AMP)

Prayer: Oh God, point out Your plans for us and help us walk in them. In Christ. Amen.
