Toothless

Ah, the fashionable disgusting green smoothies abound every where I go. Why did God give us teeth, since we seem to use them so seldom?

Even my granddaughter wanted to know the answer to that one.

“Why did God give us teeth?” asked the little one. She giggled and then shouted her answer before I could get a word in. “To hold our lips out!” she giggled some more.

She does have a point. Lately, it’s very fashionable not to use our teeth. I guess we should be glad we are not using them this way.

And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’(Matthew 25:30, NIV)

How are we taking in the Gospel; surely not in smoothie form still? Paul hoped we would someday be ready for more than just a smoothie Gospel.

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ.  I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.  You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarrelling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? (I Corinthians 3:1-3, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, give us the courage to take a bite out of life, instead of slobbering it to death. Amen!?
