Toronto’s Plum Tree

Moses Znaimer of Zoomer Media has ‘fathered’ a tree in High Park, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He calls her Plum but she has more than forty different stone fruits grafted into her branches. These include antique varieties of peaches, nectarines, plums and even almonds.

Over time, as grafts are added in, the tree changes into a multi-faceted, multi-color beauty. The blossoms are all different colors. The fruit is all different kinds. The harvest time is different for each particular fruit.

Of course, this led me to verses like this.

“I am the true vine, and my father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. (John 15:1-2)

In the video, the gardener grafts new varieties in, but he also trims out those who aren’t doing their job.

If we have chosen Jesus as our personal Saviour we are grafted into the vine.

Imagine how we look from heaven. So many of us, all different, blooming at different times and bearing different fruit. We must indeed be a pretty sight!
