Tweeting the Easter Message from the Pew

Social networking is already accepted as a mainstream form of communication. It doesn’t take much looking to find any number of churches, pastors, ministries and rank-and-file Christians on Facebook, MySpace, and the like.

On Easter, the appropriately named Next Level church in Stallings, N.C. actively encouraged attendees to pull out their cell phones, Blackberrys and iPhones. Why? To log on to Twitter and start tweeting the Easter message out to “followers” in cyberspace.

“I hope many of you are tweeting this morning about your experience with God,” Pastor Todd Hahn said to the congregation prior to his sermon.

Depending on your level of personal experience with social networking, your response may be either:

1. What a cool idea! or

2. That is going too far!

Whatever your view, we’ll continue to see new ways Christians are spreading the gospel as social networking and social media grow.
