Two-Minute Whip Around

Who thought the family would be visiting today? I just saw them a few days ago and all of a sudden they are at the door step. It isn’t my birthday or anything. No time to get an answer! There is a barrage of folks at my door.

I did my trademark two-minute whip -around. I flung clothes into the closet, stuffed newspapers into the blue box. Ran my sleeve over the dust on the coffee table and met them at the door, quite breathless.

What do you when you are short-taken like that? What are your cleaning priorities? I ask God the same questions.  What about me are we working on today, God? What in me offends you? How can I honour you today with my whole self?  (Just so you know…God is not into the two-minute whip-around. Nope. It’s deep cleaning for him.)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9, NIV)

Prayer- Father God, it is a little scary to ask you to cleanse us from everything that is not good and pure to you. Give us the courage to do that. Amen.
