Underhanded Living

I know that you believe that you understand what you think I said but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. (Robert McCloskey)

A writer calls that weaselling out; that is saying something that no one understands. We might use words that are too big or too convoluted (like this one!) We might be saying something else entirely and hoping that you don’t get our secrecy.

Today it is hard to understand what many of our public figures are meaning when they speak. Are they trying to be underhanded or are they naturally sly? It is hard to tell. All we can do is ask God to help us make wise decisions when it is necessary.

Here is a clear word for you to cling to.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  (John 3:16 NIV)

Prayer- Lord, help us be like you, Lord, always saying what we mean and meaning what we say. Amen.
