Unusable

Did you ever consider this? In our world, Elizabeth was way too old and Mary was way to young…and yet…God used each of them in a highly unusual way.

What thoughts come to your mind when you hear stories of people used in ways beyond measure?

When God gives someone a big thought, the first step seems to be that we believe him and act.

Consider Moses.

Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”  And Moses said, “Here I am.”

Or Isaiah.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)

Or the Prophet Amos.

Amos answered Amaziah, “I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees. But the Lord took me from tending the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’

None of us are unusable to God. But we must be willing to go where he sends us and to obey what he asks of us.
