Use Your Bible – Part One

Do you pray God’s Word at every opportunity? First, pray and ask God to show you where and how to pray his word. Now open your Bible, read, take notes, write your prayers out. Let’s begin with a verse or two of Colossians. Note: What I find to pray about may not be yours. Let the Holy Spirit guide you.

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  (Colossians 3:1-2, NIV)

Prayer- Thanks Lord, that I have been raised in Christ. Teach me to set my heart on the things above.

And again.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, this was the old me but I confess that I sometimes still fall into_________________, Give me strength to live as you would have me live.

Once More.

You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.  But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.  Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. (Colossians 3:7-9, NIV)

Prayer- Oh God, you tell me to rid myself of these things and I need your help. Thanks, Lord, for that help to deal with my _________________ .

Well you get the idea. Pray on my friends. Pray on in Christ. Amen.
