Defeated? The term wasn’t even considered in Britain during the Second World War because Prime Minister Winston Churchill refused to consider it.

He said, “There is only one answer to defeat and that is victory.”

Churchill was speaking about the war but we Christians are called to have the same attitude.

For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” (Deuteronomy 20:4, NIV)

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

“Where, O death is your victory?

Where, O death, is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:54-57, NIV)

“A victorious Christian life is not a superior brand of Christianity reserved for the elite of the elect. It is the normal Christian life for every Christian.” – Ronald Dunn

Prayer – Thank you, Lord, that everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (From 1 John 5:4, NIV)
