My friend swears that this salad recipe is delicious. I haven’t tried it yet. It looks a bit weird to me so that’s what I am calling it.
Weird Salad is made of a combination of chopped pears, apples, cucumbers, celery and peppers, mixed with cherry tomatoes, dried cranberries, nuts, seeds, two ounces of soft cheese and Romaine lettuce. You top the whole mess with honey Dijon dressing.
Didn’t I tell you? It is weird, completely weird. Yet my friend insists it is wonderful. Rather like the Gospel. Some people think it is weird that the Son of God would come to earth in human form, die on the cross and be raised from the dead so that we might be free of our sin and have eternal life.
Like that Weird Salad, they will never know if they don’t try it.
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. (John 3:16-18, MSG)
Prayer – Father God, open our hearts to the wonderful promise of the Christ. Amen
