What do you do, when you’re in a queue? You know, stuck in a major four lane highway traffic jam, lined up behind ten other people in a big box store checkout or waiting for the fast food line to move.
I carry a book or my E reader. Another person memorizes scripture. Some scribble grocery lists or write thank you cards. When we use our time in some way, the line seems to move faster! Truly!
So don’t kick yourself for choosing the wrong line, the one that never seems to move. Instead congratulate yourself for getting something done. Whatever you do, don’t try to shortcut your way to your destination.
“Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with sure fire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention. (Matthew 7:13-14, MSG)
Prayer- Lord, give us grace in line ups. For Christ who lined up to die for us. Amen
