What Is a ’YouTruth’ Anyway?

YouTruth draws together two fundamental components of a life of faith—you and the truth. There is truth that can be known about the creation of our world, how it was designed, and how it came to be the way it is today. This truth cannot be understood separately from the creative force behind it all: God. This is where the “you” part comes in. God created the world and all that is in it with a great and glorious purpose: that He and you may enter into an intimate, personal relationship with one another, a relationship that starts in this world and continues for all eternity. God has gone to great lengths throughout history to ensure that this relationship is possible. Of all the life changing events you can think of, having God talk to you about all of this would qualify, wouldn't it? What if you sat down one morning at your kitchen table with a cup of coffee and there He was, sitting across from you? Would anything else have a bigger impact on your life? I've got good news. Not only is God available for such a conversations, He is eagerly waiting for them. He is ready to pull up a chair right next to you and talk—for as long as you want.

God can speak to us in many ways, but His primary way is through the Bible. So get it out and open it up! Pray for His Holy Spirit to speak to you through the words that you read. If you do this, even though the Bible was written centuries ago, it will be as alive, real, and pertinent to you as it was to its first readers. You will feel as though the words are coming from God’s mouth to your ear. When you encounter the personal and intimate nature of God’s truth and allow your life to intersect with it, incredible things happen. I pray that by reading this book, you will come to see your Bible reading as not just a religious exercise, but as a doorway to relationship-building conversations with God. I pray that you will read your Bible and see how God is speaking directly to you in each passage. I pray you will see the YouTruths for yourself. I pray that reading this book will encourage you to seek out a regular Bible study class, if you are not part of one already. This book is not meant to be a replacement for daily Bible reading or study. It is meant to be a springboard that launches you into an intensely deep, personal relationship with your loving, caring Creator. If you already have a great personal relationship with God, I hope that this book will help you to draw even closer to Him.
