When a Dog Barks

When a dog barks, I listen.
I ask myself why it does.
Whose it is.
Where it is.

Yet when you speak, Lord, I stop my ears.
I ask myself why I am unhappy.
I say, “Where can I go from here?”
Still you wait patiently for my listening.

You wait till I remember
that I don’t know the answers to any of life’s questions.
Only you do
and when I stop, ask, listen,
you will answer.

To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.” (Mark 4:25, NLT)

Prayer – Lord, we wait now, listening and praying for a word from you. Amen
