You are all familiar with hook and loop tape. It closes your pockets, fastens tent walls and a version of it even graces baby diapers. When it fails, the item will not stay closed. It just won’t work anymore.
It’s not the hook and loop tape’s problem. No it is just as firm as before. The problem is the little bits of string and fluff that gather on that tape. You can fix it by lifting off the bits with a sharp needle. Good as new.
Sin gets in the way of our relationship with God. Once we were tight and close together, melded as one. Our hearts beat in tune with his. We did what he asked when he asked it.
Somehow that isn’t happening now. Our hook and loop needs a little cleaning with a sharp instrument…like the sword of the word of God.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12, NIV)
Don’t be afraid. Go for it. It will only hurt a little bit and then all of a sudden you will be one with him again.
Prayer- Lord I repent of ___________. Hook me up to you again Lord, just like we used to be. Amen.
