When to Act

The tongue is a naughty part of our body, s I told you yesterday. Of course, we should remember
to pray about it daily but here are some warning signs that we are about to collapse into tongue
disobedience. And I have included some helpful aids.
Are you angry or upset about something? Beware the mouth that speaks what you are thinking!
Are you thinking with love? Are you willing to speak as you want others to speak toward you?
Pray! Pray! Pray!! Speak with a trusted friend or Christian counsellor. Remember that a tongue
can destroy friendship, marriage, a job, a customer, a child and dozens more. Pray, asking God
to hep you say the right thing.
James is not the only one who writes about how to control the anger which leads to mouth
mayhem! Here is Psalm 37:7-9 in two versions.
Quiet down before God, be prayerful before him. Don’t bother with those who climb the ladder,
Or elbow their way to the top. Bridle your anger, trash your wrath, cool your pipes. It only makes
things worse. Before long the crooks will be bankrupt; God-investors will soon own the store.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their
ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope
in the Lord will inherit the land.
