My battery-operated tooth brush motors on for quite a while without being charged. All of a sudden though, every few days it gets quite whiny and slow, but does the silly thing quit? No. Does it respond to the off button? No! It drags on, at quarter speed for ages before collapsing in the sink.
I know I’m always exhorting you to serve and persevere and hang in there, but there comes a time for each of us to stop. We sense it ourselves. We know it is the Lord’s will, yet we drag out the process. Like that toothbrush, we cling to our position even though we are no longer effective.
Friends, it is better to prune ourselves than to be pruned.
Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. (John 15:2, AMP)
Prayer – Father God, when all is said and done, help us to know when you’ve said we are done. Amen
