“When does one become nine?” the little girl asked us. We couldn’t answer her but she answered us. “It’s when my Daddy dies and helps nine people.” she exclaimed. Then she went on to explain how Daddy went to be with Jesus but left his corneas, liver, kidneys, his pancreas, skin, heart and lungs for other people to use.
That must be the biggest help ever. Our bodies die and yet they live on in the world, giving life to others.
Have you made your wishes known to your family, friends, medical team? Have you made a will involving your possessions? Do you have a living will? That is, have you made all the proper preparations so that your family won’t have to make all those hard decisions later when they are under the tremendous stress of losing you? Surely we are longing to see God, but let’s leave this life as organized for our family as we can.
Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. (Hebrews 11:16, NIV)
Prayer- Father God, help us make our transition to heaven as easy for our families as possible. In Christ. Amen.
