Why Do We Sing?

Why do we sing —?
-Sweet Hour of Prayer and pray only five minutes?
-Onward Christian Soldiers and then won’t go?
-Oh, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing and won’t use the one we have?
-Or Showers of Blessings and stay home from church when it rains?

Why do we sing—-?
-Blest Be the Tie That Binds and let little things break us apart?
-Serve the Lord with Gladness and complain the whole time?
-I Love to Tell the Story and then never tell the story a single time?
-Marching to Zion and spend Sunday morning in bed?

Why do we sing —?
-Take Your Burden to the Lord and then worry ourselves into a nervous breakdown?
-Jesus Paid it All, all to Him I Owe and give no thought to doing anything to pay it back?
-We’ll Work till Jesus Comes and remain spiritually unemployed?

Why do we sing —?
-Where He Leads Me, I will Follow and then refuse to follow Him anywhere?
-Victory in Jesus and constantly throw our hands up in defeat when things get tough?
-I Stand Amazed in the Presence and don’t ever go into His presence to be amazed?

Why not sing and mean it —after all the Lord sings over you!

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love, he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. ” (Zephaniah 3:17, NIV)

Prayer- Oh Lord you gave each of us a tongue and a voice. Give us gumption to do what we say (or sing!) Amen.
